I have to confess. I've lost nearly all interest in the Casey Anthony case. I think she's a narcissistic skank, and she killed her daughter in a terribly horrific way. I think she'll be found guilty, but won't get the death penalty.

The defense is already throwing out a lot of red herrings, just to see what they can make stick. Unless there are some real bombshells in the trial, I don't know if I will follow it in anything more than a cursory manner.

If anyone else would like to do updates, please feel free to let me know and I will happily consider it.

I thought I could stomach a mother on trial for murdering her daughter, but the whole thing just disgusts me so much, I've stepped away at least for the forseeable future.

Updates on The Trial Date, Other News In The Case

Casey's October trial date has been deferred. Casey's latest Dream Team attorney, Death Penalty expert Andrea Lyon, stated that she plans to file a flurry of motions after Labor Day and requested additional time. Judge Strickland scheduled a status/pretrial hearing for January 21. (January 21 also happens to be my son's birthday. "Happy Birthday, Dex! Now, settle in for a night of channel-flipping the Nancy Grace and Greta shows!")

There was also a request to proceed on the check fraud cases against Casey. Casey's friend, Amy, the victim, is expected to sign an affidavit to pursue a speedy trial.

Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found the body, is requesting more money toward his legal expenses. With the latest payment, Kronk's legal fees will be $12,500. Kronk was provided with an attorney to deal with the media, and to block the release all of his personal cell phone records, claiming privacy on some calls. Although it's rare of a witness such as Kronk to receive legal help, the Mayor has said that since it occurred on county time, the county has an obligation to take care of their own.

Am I the only one who is getting a hinky feeling from the meter reader? Unless he was fooling around on his girlfriend, or something else, that he doesn't want to get out, I can only think there is something about the case he doesn't want known.

Defense Reveals Trial Strategy

Jose Baez, Casey's lead attorney, revealed some of the defense strategy for trial. He claims the prosecution can show no cause of death; there were no witnesses to the crime; and there is no direct link between Casey and Caylee's remains.

(Side note: I know, I think he needs to put down the bong on that last statement, as well.)

He also plans on throwing out the ever-popular defense chestnut of "junk science". Baez plans to present the air samples in Casey's car trunk were analyzed using an unreliable technique and shouldn't be used in trial at all. His "junk science" plan also includes the seventeen hairs found in Casey's trunk that showed no signs of decomposition.

(Side note again: But won't those just show more likelihood that Casey used Xanny, as in Xanax, as the Nanny, or chloroform, and put Caylee in the trunk when Casey was out partying?")

In the civil case against Casey brought by Zenaida Gonalez, motions have been filed to compel George and Cindy to answer the questions they refused to respond to in the deposition. It will likely end up in court.

Orpah Dumps Anthonys; George And Cindy Appear on GMA

After learning that the Anthony's were planning on giving a live interview to CBS's Good Morning America, the Oprah team decided to cancel their scheduled interview.

George and Cindy appeared on CBS this morning. They dicussed the support they have for Casey, insisting she would not harm her daughter and showed love and care with Caylee. They reiterated that Casey would not accept a plea deal for a crime she didn't commit.

Why Push For The Death Penalty Now?

The State's Attorneys Office has put the death penalty back on the table as possible punishment for Casey Anthony because the case meets mitigating circumstances that call for the death penalty. Two of those circumstances are that Caylee was a child, and was vunrable since she was allegedly killed by her own mother.

Soil samples taken from Casey's shoes also match soil from the swampy area where Caylee's body was dumped. The samples were subjected to an elevated, highly technical set of tests to insure the match.

State To Seek Death Penalty Against Casey Anthony

In a startling turnaround, the Florida State's Attorney has announced that it will be seeking the death penalty against Casey Anthony.

The trial is still scheduled for October.

In a rare personal aside, I am glad to hear the death penalty is an option in this case; I don't think it will make Casey suddenly explain and apologize, but I do think this is a case that calls for the death penalty.

Civil Case Deposition of George And Cindy Anthony

Yesterday, Casey Anthony's parents George and Cindy were deposed in the defamation suit brought by Zenaida Gonzalez, the woman who shares the name of Casey's imaginary nanny.

The videotaped deposition lasted over five hours. George half-answered many questions, like how did Casey support herself, and refused to answer some questions, such as those regarding Casey not letting him look into the trunk of her car and a conversation he had with her regarding the ladder for the above ground pool.

Cindy refused to answer questions about Casey fraudulently using credit cards, as well.

Cindy also claimed during the deposition that she had phone numbers and address for Zenaida Gonzales, the "nanny" and never attempted to contact her regarding Caylee.

It appears that the imaginary nanny was such a real person in Casey's mind, she had even described Zanny's dog to George and Cindy.

Cindy ended up storming out of the deposition and allegedly had to be physically restrained from Zenaida Gonzalez.

In another WTF moment in the ongoing case, Casey's attorney did not attend the deposition and has not attended any for the civil case.

Casey In Court: More Party Pictures Surface

At the hearing held yesterday to determine where the money funding Casey's defense came from, the judge got fed up with the sniping Jose Baez, Casey's lead attorney, did to the prosecutor. Eventually, the attorneys went into chambers and Baez apparently explained to the judge's satisfaction, that the defense is not making money on deals for Casey's story.

In other news, more salacious pictures of Mother Of The Year Casey have surfaced. They were allegedly taken at a Halloween party when Caylee was about 18 months old. Radar Online has the exclusive pictures. You can find them here.

Show Me The Money

Casey Anthony is due in court for a hearing today to determine where the money funding her defense is coming from. Casey has a dream team of defense attorneys and expert witnesses, and this writer doubts if these professionals are providing their services pro bono because they are certain of Casey's innocence.

According to the prosecutors, Casey's "conversion from pauper to princess did not come from the sale of some tangible asset" and only her story has monetary value at this point. Cindy and George have already shown during a bail hearing, that they have little, if any, net worth.

Casey signed an affidavit previously, stating that her lead attorney, Jose Baez, has no clause in his retainer entitling him to sell pictures or videos. Baez, of course, would be working under a conflict of interest if he did, since it could determine how he handles the case.

Have The Missing Pages Of Casey's Diary Surfaced?

Rumors have swirled about the diary found in the Anthony home during the execution of a search warrant. The book was dated 2003 and there were pages missing, either cut or torn out. The diary apparently spans years.

Reports are now out that those missing pages have surfaced and contain stunning revelations. Some of these revelations include a half-assed confession; that Casey killed Caylee to "save" her from Cindy; and copious notes on both chloroform and pesticides or insecticides.

None of this has been confirmed by either the prosecution or the defense, so this author would like to emphasize that at this point, they are mere rumors.

Chloroform In Caylee's Hair?

During a segment on Geraldo Rivera's show, Dr. Michael Baden, a well-renowned forensic expert, let slip that chloroform was found on Caylee's hair.

Dr. Baden is married to one of Caylee's Dream Team defense attorneys, Linda Kenney Baden.

Dr. Baden later backtracked and claimed he misspoke; that the toxicology tests that would indicate if chloroform was on Caylee's hair have not yet come back.

Another talking head forensic expert said that if the chloroform was used only once or twice, it would not be possible to show a trace in Caylee's hair. However, if it had been used on Caylee multiple times, it could show in hair follicle testing.

Another hurry up and wait situation.

Lee Not Caylee's Father

Through DNA testing by the FBI, Casey Anthony's brother, Lee, has been ruled out as Caylee's biological father. Rumors have swirled for months that Lee was Caylee's father, due to Casey's claims that Lee had always "bugged" her for sex and "admissions" Casey had made to two previous lovers that Lee had "molested" her. This author has always believed that Casey's claim of incest at the hands of Lee was just another one of Casey's classically histrionic narcissistic ploys to garner attention.

The paternity question surfaced again, during Lee's deposition for the civil case brought by Zenaida Gonzales; as commenter Melissa said on the previous post, what does this has to do with a civil deposition? Regardless of the connection, there it is: Lee is not Caylee's father.

George and Cindy, who previously claimed to be too emotionally fragile to testify in the civil suit, have now said that they will be deposed for sworn testimony, which will be videotaped, in April.

Casey Anthony Back In Court Today

In a hearing scheduled for 3:30 today, Casey Anthony will be back in court. Jose Baez, Casey's lead defense attorney, is set to argue motions regarding forensic evidence in the case. Baez wants law enforcement to produce all DNA notes and reports, the standards used for testing forensic evidence, who tested the evidence and how it was done, and the credentials of those doing the testing.

Other recent news confirms that the Orlando jail did videotape Casey meeting with Baez after the discovery of Caylee's body. Law enforcement confirms that it is standard procedure to video in the reception area of the jail, where Casey met with her attorney, for security and safety reasons. This contradicted the defense's claim that it was "secretly" taped. Sources claim that the tape shows Baez crying and wiping his eyes, while Casey turns her head away and crosses her arms. No word on whether or not this occurred before or after Casey allegedly hyperventilated and asked for medication.

In an affidavit, Casey added a handwritten note, stating, "I believe that Mr. Ashton [the prosecutor] is angry because I have refused to take a plea agreement for a crime that I did not commit." The affidavit concerns the motion regarding who exactly is paying for Casey's defense and will be addressed at a later hearing.

Brother Lee has refused to answer two questions in the civil depositions in the lawsuit brought by Zenaida Gonazales, the woman who shared Casey's imaginary nanny's name. The questions? Who is Caylee's biological father and does Brother Lee think Casey had anything to do with Caylee's death.

October Trial Date Set

The trial has been tentatively set to start on October 12, 2009.

The circuit court judge, Stan Strickland has also agreed to temporarily not allow the release of the videotape from the jailhouse from when Casey learned that they had found Caylee. This is only on hold until Casey's attorney can view the video.

~Upon being told that Caylee's remains had been found, Casey hyperventilated and asked for medication
~The laundry bag with Caylee's remains matched a laundry bag found in the Anthony home.
~ A journal entry from Casey's diary, dated June 21, five days after Caylee was last seen, says this: "This is the happiest I have been in a long time...no regrets, just a bit worried...I completely trust my own judgement and knew that I made the right decision..."
~The backing of a heart-shaped sticker, with the sticker missing, was found in the Anthony home, a possible match for the sticker found on the duct tape placed on Caylee's skull.
~Cindy Anthony reported a Winne the Pooh blanket was missing from Caylee's bed and a Winnie the Pooh blanket was found near the remains
~Also found near the remains were a syringe, a Gatorade ™ bottle with liquid and white residue and pieces of a Pull-Up™ type diaper.

Public Memorial Highlights

Yesterday, the public memorial for Caylee Anthony was held. An estimated 1100 mourners filled The First Baptist Church in Orlando. Casey Anthony, of course, was not present, since she is still in the Orange County Jail. During the service, she met with her lead attorney, Jose Baez, and had not made any request to watch the televised service.

During her eulogy, Cindy remarked that she misses watching the love Caylee shared with Casey. "It breaks my heart that Casey's not with us today to honor the child she loves so very very much." Speaking directly to Casey, Cindy said, "I love you and I wish I could comfort you right now...Caylee is so much like you. She got your beauty and your compassion, and she got your spirit."

Nancy Grace Recap

Casey's lead attorney, Jose Baez, was reprimanded for attempting to slip Casey contraband at the jail. Said contraband was a memorial bracelet saying, "Forever In Our Hearts". The bracelet was hidden in socks that Baez brought to the jail, part of Casey's court costume. It appears that Baez is trying to say he didn't know anything about the bracelet, leading to speculation that perhaps Cindy had hidden it in the sock.

Although Casey was served with the 29 question deposition in the civil case by Zenaida Gonzales, with 30 days to respond, she has thus far refused to answer, pleading her Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Rumors are that Lee will also refuse to respond. The Anthony family attorneys are also requesting that the results of the depositions not be released.

George Anthony, who had been in a psychiatric ward after sending despondent text messages indicating that he didn't live to two people he was very close to (which did not include his wife, Cindy), has left the original hospital and is allegedly going to a hospital closer to his home in Orlando. Going into week two of his hospital stay, he is doing this voluntarily, no longer under the Baker 72 hour hold. The Anthony Family attorney said that George has a long recovery time ahead.

Is the memorial finally scheduled at The First Baptist Church in Orlando for next Tuesday? The church has not confirmed, but it is a huge church, with seating for 5000 and would be an appropriate venue for a public memorial.

Why the delay on the trial? The trial date was originally set for March. That date was set before Caylee's skeletal remains were found, forcing the prosecutors to reconstruct the entire case, due to the new forensic evidence with the finding of the remains. A trial date will likely be determined at a status hearing scheduled for the end of February.

Casey's lead attorney, Jose Baez, argued against Casey appearing in court, claiming that it added to the "circus" atmosphere and could be prejudicial in seating a jury. He claims it paints Casey in a negative light, with speculation about her physical appearance (wan, doughy, and apathetic). The judge shot that down, so Casey is present, hair in a bun, wearing a drab, grey, conservative suit, which I'm fairly certain wasn't hanging in her closet prior to Caylee's death.

Jail House Funeral?

Rumors are flying that the Anthony's will finally announce plans for a public memorial for Caylee today. There is also talk that Casey is trying to arrange a jail house funeral. The Sheriff's Department has denied that any motion has been filed and talking heads verify that it would be highly unlikely that Casey would be allowed to participate in any sort of "jailhouse" funeral. She remains in protective custody. The thing smacks of a desperate publicity ploy. Remember: This is the is devoted mother who refused to see the chaplain when told about the discovery of Caylee's body.

Baez Wants Prosecutors Off Case

Casey Anthony's lead defense attorney, Jose Baez, has filed an emergency motion to recuse the entire prosecution team. Baez alleges that the prosecuting attorney's office filed the anonymous complaints with the Florida Bar Association accusing Baez of making entertainment deals pending the outcome of the case. Baez claims they are trying to "secretly ruin his reputation".

He hopes to schedule a hearing before the judge, but it's unlikely that the prosecutors would be called upon to testify.

Grandpa George Peels Out Of The Squadron

George Anthony was reported missing late Thursday evening after missing a meeting with the Anthony family attorney.

He had sent text messages to family members indicating that he wished to die. He was tracked by cell phone pings to the Hawaiian Inn Motel at 2:30 a.m. He was taken into custody under Florida's Baker Act, which allows someone to be held for up to 72 hours pending a psychiatric evaluation. The police chief personally drove him to Halifax Hospital after persuading him to seek medical help.

Although no drugs or weapons were found in his motel room, other items of an alarming nature were, along with a suicide note indicating that he "wanted to be with Caylee".

Among the highlights:

~Caylee's skeletal remains were found in a plastic trash bag that was then placed inside a cloth laundry-type bag.
~A child's tee shirt and shorts, size 3T, were also found in the bag. These are not the same clothes Caylee was wearing the last time her Grandpa George saw her.
~ Nearby were a Winnie The Pooh blanket and a small plastic toy horse.
~ A small heart-shaped sticker was found nearby and the duct tape wrapped around the mouth area of Caylee's skull yielded adhesive residue in a heart shape.

Among the 100+ pages of documents, the search warrant served on the Anthony home directly after the find of Caylee's skeletal remains and crime scene technicians' reports were included. Other items listed in the search warrant were similar toy horses, scrapbook and crafting materials, and sticker sheets.

Meter Reader Receives $5000 Reward

Ray Kronk, the meter reader who discovered Caylee's remains after calling in various tips to the sheriff's department, has received the $5000 reward offered by the Anthony's former attorney.

In related news, the deputy who responded to his calls has been reassigned to desk duty, and is under investigation. He is no longer allowed to represent himself as law enforcement or take law enforcement actionand had to turn in all of his equipment until at least the end of the Caylee Anthony investigation. In other words, he has the same rank as a civil employee.

Mr. Kronk said that the deputy was abrupt and didn't really look and the areas Mr. Kronk had pointed out and appeared to just blow him off.

Is Baez Shopping Deals?

WFTV has reported that they have uncovered a source that claims Jose Baez, the lead defense attorney, is shopping entertainment deals based upon the outcome of the trial. Rumors abound these deals have paid for the defense and at least one payment of $200,000 has been made. Allegedly, a complaint has been made to the State's Attorney. The office of the State's Attorney, however, made it clear that the complaint would not properly be handled by the State's Attorney office, but rather the Florida Bar and the Court. Judge Strickland, the trial judge, is aware of the concerns and if there is merit, would likely address the concerns in a hearing for the record.

Baez's spokesperson has denied this and responded that Baez has been working on licensing fees but receives no profit in it.

Of course, if it proves to be true that the defense is receiving money for entertainment rights, it would be a gross violation of ethics and a conflict of interest.

Jose Baez has also avoided questions regarding the funding of the defense with its team of high-priced expert witnesses and it's logical to assume that not all of them are working pro bono.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that in newly released taped jail visits between Casey and Cindy/George that Casey states, "This is seriously the first time I've been angry, that I've been frustrated to the point where I can't even think straight at this moment. "
She goes on to say, "The worst part is nobody can see my side and I have to keep my mouth shut."

In other news, Equusearch is now saying that the cost of searching for Caylee was over $100,000 and because of the state of the economy that was a heavy hit to them. I hope they have a large amount of donations coming in so they can continue to do their heroic efforts and search for those who are endangered.

We're hoping this blog can be a one-stop place to get all the pertinent news about the case against Casey Anthony. We do this by following the news in the media. This includes the Orlando Sentinel, various Orlando television stations, cable news shows such as Nancy Grace and Larry King Live, and mainstream national news like ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.

We try to keep our opinions to a minimum and avoid speculation, rumors, and innuendo unless they are overwhelmingly in the news. An example would be the rumor that Lee, Casey's brother, is Caylee's biological father.

There is only one forum I participate in that discusses the Anthony case, and it is not a crime forum, per se. It's actually a celebrity death site. I deliberately avoid crime forums because not only have I had bad experiences, I think they are full of rumor, speculation, projection and exaggeration of facts. And they have the tendency to get nasty.

I can not speak for my co-authors, Dearheart and October Sky, but I suspect the same. We are also women who have busy lives and what time is spent online is more for quality, not quantity.

The Private Investigators Video Controversy

The video taken by the private investigators hired by the Anthony family is causing a tremendous amount of controversy.

The abandoned house has been empty for over a year. It was owned by a "H. Gonzales" who returned to Puerto Rico. Before that, it was owned by another person with the surname "Gonzalez" who was from New York City.

Gonzalez is also the last name of Casey's imaginary nanny, who she claimed was from New York. To reiterate, none of Casey's family or friends have ever met, talked to, or seen this nanny and law enforcement does not believe she exists. Casey also said this nanny had a key to the Anthony family home, so mix that up with the fact that George used to be a homicide cop and determine how likely that would be.

A psychic contacted Nancy Grace and claimed she was the one on the phone with Dominic Casey in the video tape. She had apparently had some sort of "hit" on that spot. She also claims that she has not been able to retrieve her cell phone records from Verizon; a claim that many believe is an outright lie.

On Geraldo, the Anthony's attorney says that the video proves that there was no body in the area in November, implying that it had to have been placed there after Casey was already making her home in the Orange County Jail, ordering makeup, beef jerky and Pop Tarts from the commissary, and listening to her transparent transistor radio.

According to WFTV, there are photos taken of the site by the private investigators that are much more revealing than the video. They could be released some time next week.

In the meantime, Caylee's remains are still at the strip mall funeral home. Allegedly, the Anthony's are leaning towards cremation, since they think someone may try to dig up the grave. Still, no arrangements have been made, either cremation, burial, or even a simple memorial service.

Meter Reader Speaks

This morning, Ray Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee Anthony's remains after phoning in previous tips about the area, spoke to Good Morning America.

Rumors have swirled around Mr. Kronk. The two most persistent rumors are that he was tipped off by someone to look in the area because his supervisor lives down the street from the Anthony's or that he was somehow involved in Caylee's disappearance. Mr. Kronk went on camera today to set the record straight. He reiterated that he has never met the Anthonys and had been a bail bondsman and in the Coast Guard and acted on his own hunches. He was only trying to do the right thing by reporting the area as a spot of interest until he actually found Caylee's remains.

Video Of Anthony's Private Investigators

WFTV in Orlando has obtained partial footage of the Anthony's private investigators videotaping the area where Caylee's remains were found. You can view the video here.

The video of Dominic Casey was shot by Jim Hoover. You can see Mr. Casey poking around in trash bags near an abandoned house, wandering the woods in his best Indiana Jones mode, and poking the ground with a metal rod. He's also talking on his cell phone.

The WFTV reporter, who saw the entire video with audio, said Mr. Casey can be heard saying, "It should be right there." Mr. Hoover, who was shooting the video, told police that Mr. Casey had said Caylee was dead and that they were going to find her. The days they searched the area, however, much of it was still submerged in water from the hurricane.

There is much speculation as to who Mr. Casey was speaking to on his cell phone. At various times, it's been alleged that it was Mr. Casey's daughter, who was ill, or a psychic. A psychic had alerted to the area back in August, as a matter of fact. It doesn't appear that Mr. Casey was speaking to that psychic, though. The area was also a big teen hangout, and it's been suggested that someone told Mr. Casey that Casey Anthony used to spend a lot of time there. Mr. Casey has not turned over his cell phone records but law enforcement will no doubt examine them thoroughly.

Court Updates

Today's hearing before Judge Strickland will address the release of autopsy information to the defense. Judge Strickland has already made it clear that there will be limits placed on viewing the autopsy findings due to concern that the information or pictures will be sold for profit. Today, he is expected to rule on the protocol to be used by the defense with regards to the autopsy.

The defense has also requested records from Texas Equusearch. They would like all the maps used in the searches, information on volunteers and all communications between the searchers and the investigators. Judge Strickland is expected to set a date for that hearing.

Brad Conway, Cindy and George Anthony's attorney, has clarified his reasons for seeking immunity for them. He said it would be incompetent of him, as their attorney, to let them speak to the FBI or Orange County Sheriff Department, without protecting them from self-incrimination or invoking their Fifth Amendment rights. He wants the Anthony's to be able to tell what they need to tell without fear of future ramifications.

Mr. Conway also set the record straight as to why Cindy and George have not visited Casey in jail and were not at the latest hearing where she was summoned to appear. Since the jail videotapes all visits, and the visits are released to the media, Cindy and George have chosen not to visit to avoid the "circus." They did not attend the latest hearing because Casey was summoned in the midst of the hearing.

Contrary to rumors, no charges against anyone else in the family are pending or expected.

Caylee "Intentionally Killed"; Casey Alone Responsible

Local 6 News in Orlando is reporting that a source from law enforcement has confirmed that Casey Anthony intentionally killed her daughter and that Casey alone is responsible for the death.

Law enforcement appears to be basing this on a time line established by forensic botanists and entomologists, along with autopsy findings, pinpointing the time frame that the murder took place. The Oakridge National Laboratory established that Caylee was killed on June 16, spent two days in the truck of the car, then was dumped in the wooded swampy spot where her skeletal remains were found.

The "overwhelming" evidence pointing to Casey as the sole murderer:
~Hair, with a "ring of death" in the trunk of the car Casey was driving matched hair found with Caylee's remains
~Duct tape present on the mouth area of Caylee's skull
~The high levels of chloroform in the trunk of the car
~Cell phone pings placing Casey in the area where the remains were found

I've also read rumors of the death penalty being back in play, but I haven't been able to confirm this as actually coming from the prosecuting attorney's office versus media speculation.

Today's Rulings In Anthony Case

Rulings came down in the case against Casey Anthony. First, Casey must be present during court hearings; she can no longer waive her right to appear. She was brought to the hearing today from her cell at the Orange County Jail, wearing her smartest navy blue jumpsuit that identifies her as an inmate, accessorized with dull silver handcuffs.

Judge Strickland also imposed restrictions on the defense's use of the autopsy information. He will detail the specific restrictions at a later date.

Judge Stickland ruled that although Zenaida Gonzalez's lawyers may not depose Casey on video or by tape while she is in jail, they can submit written questions to her.Casey and her attorneys will have 30 days in which to respond.

Prosecutors Requesting Limits On Autopsy Releases

The prosecutors in the Casey Anthony murder trial are requesting limitations to be placed on who is able to view the autopsy information. The information is contained on three disks and prosecutors are concerned about the information being used for profit.

Both still and video images of Caylee Anthony alive have fetched big bucks. While the prosecution isn't implying that the defense will leak the autopsy, they are concerned that it might end up in the hands of someone who would sell the results. They are asking the judge to limit the distribution; no email, no mailing, no copying, printing or reproduction. The information would have to reviewed in defense attorney Jose Baez's presence.

Casey Anthony's Access To The News

Although the media is saturated with the Casey Anthony case, Casey herself has limited access to what is being said. As a jail spokesperson said, "She's not watching Nancy Grace."

The Orange County Jail does have a tv in the common area, but only local channels are available and it is rarely turned on. Casey does have a radio, which is transparent to prevent contraband and is designed just for jail and prison inmates. Casey can ask to watch tv during her daily "hour out" of her cell, time generally reserved for showering and exercise. Orange County Jail inmates are allowed to subscribe to newspapers, but papers are not available in common areas. There is no Internet access and all incoming mail is inspected and some outgoing mail as well.

No decision has made yet if Casey will be allowed to view the memorial if it is televised. No word on whether she has actually asked to watch it. No date or time has been set for either the public memorial or private funeral service.

Civil Case Hearing Postponed

Zenaida Gonzalez, the woman who shares the name of Casey Anthony's imaginary nanny, is suing Casey Anthony for defamation. Ms. Gonzalez has no connection to Casey Anthony in any way other than having looked at an apartment available for rent at Sawgrass Apartments, where Casey claimed she dropped off Caylee. The apartment Casey pointed out, however, hadn't been occupied for some time, and never by Ms. Gonzalez. Ms. Gonzalez is suing since she has been having trouble finding a place to live or securing a job, due to the taint of the Anthony case. She hopes to clear her name permanently.

Casey's attorneys, however, maintain that the suit is all a publicity stunt and have filed a countersuit.

Although testimony was slated to begin today, the judge presiding has scheduled a formal hearing later in the week.

Casey Anthony will be testifying, under oath, at the Orange County Jail. She will, of course, have the option of invoking her fifth amendment right against self-incrimination.

Is there a video of the murder scene?

On the Nancy Grace show tonight it was revealed that there may be a videotape of the murder scene. This could be one of two locations 1> Where the body was found 2> Where Caylee was actually killed.
Does this show that the body was NOT there during the first searches? That would raise countless questions.

There also appears to be evidence that states a search was done for an episode of One Tree Hill that concerns a kidnapping by a nanny. This raises even more questions! Did Casey download a lot of television shows and this just happened to be one of them. Or was this one of the only (or few) TV shows found on the computers. Since the case so far has a lot of circumstantial evidence and this is another piece. Not damning on it's own but when added to the information we already know, it makes you think.

And Casey ordered $40 more of snacks today. More beef jerky and candy! She has not had ANY visitors (expect her lawyers) since the end of September. It's not that she can't have visitors. No one has come. Were friends and family (especially Lee, Cindy and George) advised to not visit her? She also has not had any phone calls. Not even a holiday call?

Meter Reader May Receive Reward Money

Ray Kronk, the meter reader who phoned in tips about the bag containing Caylee's remains, may receive the $5000 reward offered by Mark NeJame, who was George and Cindy Anthony's attorney. Mr. NeJame received the donation while working with Anthonys. Mr. NeJame said he will make a decision shortly.

Leonard Padilla, however, thinks there is something hinky about the meter reader; that he may have been directed to the site of the remains.

Lee Anthony To Face Charges?

Lee Anthony, Casey's brother, has an attorney. His attorney claims that Lee is being investigated by the Orlando Sheriff's Department and faces possible charges of obstruction of justice or aiding and abetting.

Lee did not submit his DNA until he was forced to do so by subpoena, it should be noted. Rumors have run rampant on the Internet that Lee is actually Caylee's father from an incestuous relationship with Casey, and Casey had claimed to friends that Lee was always bugging her for sex and trying to molest her. Among other of Casey's lies about her family is that George is not her biological father but her stepfather, so who knows what's really credible about Lee being Caylee's father or molesting Casey.

It's very unusual for an attorney to announce pending charges against a client. The attorney's statement has legal eagles and everyone else following the case scratching their heads, wondering why and what purpose this claim serves.

Judge Orders Release Of Autopsy Information

Orange County Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland ordered the release of autopsy information to Casey Anthony's defense team so they may conduct their own autopsy. Among the items released were photos, x-rays, microscopic slides, and reports. These will no doubt be examined by Dr. Henry Lee, who joined the defense pro bono.

The Orange County Medical Examiner ruled Caylee's death a homicide, but stated that it may never be known how she died.

Nancy Grace Recap, December 22

Last night, Nancy Grace interviewed Jesse Grund, the former fiance of Casey Anthony.

Casey had originally claimed Jesse was the father of Caylee. When a DNA test, urged on Jesse by his family, proved that he was not, in fact, Caylee's father, he still continued to love Caylee as his own. He and Casey were homebodies, focused on Caylee. They enjoyed watching movies together and going out to dinner as a family, things most parents of a young child do. Casey was determined to become a photographer and actually worked for Kodak (really) and strove to be a good mom.

That all changed toward the end of their relationship, when Casey was too hungover from partying the night before to attend Jesee's brother's graduation, as one example.

Jesse said that he didn't know the person Casey had become. She broke off the engagement because she felt Jesse loved Caylee more than he loved her.

Jesse was in tears, remembering Caylee and how much she meant to him. He recounted that during Caylee's first Christmas, they didn't make it to the mall for Santa pictures, so he bought a cheap Santa suit and dressed up for her.

When Leonard Padilla first bailed Casey out of jail and was babysitting her at her family home, he said discussion by the Anthonys revolved around the possibility Jesse had snatched Caylee.

Jesse had never been seriously considered a suspect by law enforcement.

Jose Baez, Casey's local Orlando attorney, has also set up a new tip line, hoping to bring in more information provind Casey did not harm Caylee.

As of now, the Anthonys have no plans to visit Casey in jail.

The crime scene has been cleared and investigators went directly from the scene to the Anthony home, where they removed more items of potential evidenciary value such as shoes and clothes. George Anthony was visibly upset when the search warrant was presented.

The defense, after clamoring for access to the crime scene, did not show up after the scene was cleared by investigators. They claimed that there was nothing left for them.

Memorial For Caylee

George and Cindy Anthony, through their attorney, announced that they will schedule a public memorial for Caylee. The details are still in the works. A private service will also be held for family and friends.

Casey Anthony will not be attending either, nor allowed to view the remains. The Orange County Corrections department states that due to the level of charges against her and safety and security reasons, it is against their policy.

No word as to whether or not Casey actually asked to attend.

Toys at the makeshift memorial for Caylee at the crime scene are going to be donated to the Orlando Rescue Mission, rather than left to rot in the Florida weather.

Contrary to rumors, The Anthony's have not asked for donations to cover the cost of the funeral or memorial services.

Another Search Of Anthony Home

For the third time in ten days, authorities have searched the Anthony home. More items of value as evidence were removed.

The wooded swampy area where Caylee's remains were found has been cleared as a crime scene. The Medical Examiner said there was no soft tissue left, but there was hair.

There was nothing to indicate that Caylee had ever left the Orlando area.

Investigators have re interviewed Ray Kronk, the meter reader who had phoned in the tips about the remains. He has no connection to the Anthony's or the case and is not considered a suspect in any way.

The trial, as of now, is still scheduled for March.

Caylee's Book?

One of the other items found during the extesive search of the swampy wooded area where remains believed to belong to Caylee Anthony were found is a children's book. Is it Caylee's book? Law Enforcement released the pictures but made no comment.

Utility Worker Reported "Strange Odor"

The utility worker had previously called the police on August 13, 14 and 15 to report a "strange odor" in the area where the remains were found.

More Bones Discovered; First Tip Came In August?

More bones have been found at the perimeter of the search site where a child's skull, believed to be Caylee Anthony's, was found. The search site will be expanded and investigators expect to intend to stay several more days.

The FBI has the hair samples found with the skull and testing is being conducted.

The Sheriff's Department also confirmed that the first tip about the area came in August, from the utility worker who made the discovery. He had apparently called three different days in August and a deputy was sent to the area. What the utility worker reported during those calls in August has not been released yet.

Second Anthony Spokesperson Steps Down

Michelle Bart, the spokesperson for George and Cindy Anthony, is stepping down. She is citing health reasons as she has surgery scheduled later this month in Washington State.

Ms. Bart will be the second Anthony family spokesperson in as many months to leave the case. The last, Larry Garrison, resigned after accusing the family of erratic behavior.

Attorney Mark Njeme also stepped aside. He allegedly pocketed up to $6500 for providing family pictures to the media.

Hair on Duct Tape

According to Nancy Grace's sources, there was long, light hair attached to the duct tape found on the skull. The duct tape was allegedly wrapped all the way around the skull.

Casey Anthony has been removed from psychological observation. She remains in a cell by herself with no contact with other inmates.

The search in the woods a quarter mile from the Anthony's home, where the skull and other bones were initially found, continues. Authorities hope to clear the scene within the next day.

An emergency hearing will be underway soon in the Anthony case. The defense is hoping to obtain photos, videos and drawings of the area where the remains believed to be Caylee Anthony were found. They will also request a second autopsy and ask for preservation of forensic evidence and a forensic expert for the defense be appointed.

More Bones Found

Law Enforcement this week-end continued to search the area where the presumptive remains of Caylee Anthony were found. The search area was expanded and during soil sifting, more bones were found.

George and Cindy Anthony, Caylee's grandparents, are said to be devastated by the discovery of the remains, although they still harbor hope that it is not Caylee.

Larry King - "Circumstances changed"

Cindy and George Anthony did not appear on Larry King Live tonight. Larry stated that he was told this afternoon that the Anthony's were advised to not appear on the show. It was stated that the circumstances have changed. They Anthony's have also been advised to not speak to the media.

No new information was discussed on the show. Mark Geragos stated that the obvious conclusion is that it is Caylee. He stated that because there was hair found they will be able to do mitochondrial DNA testing faster then would be done for testing the bones for DNA.

The 911 call was played as were parts of the Anthony's interview from Wednesday night.

Nancy Grace, December 12

Jane Velez-Mitchell was sitting in for Nancy Grace tonight.

LE has now confirmed that they are confident that the remains found do belong to Caylee. The autopsy is being, or has been, conducted at the Orange County Medical Examiners office and after a discussion with the FBI, specific samples will be sent to Quanitco for extensive forensic testing, including DNA and advanced toxicology.

The defense team did ask to attend the autopsy, which was met by a resounding no, since the remains have not been conclusively determined to be Caylee; what if the remains weren't Caylee? Incredibly improper to view another child's autopsy. On the flip side, the defense can now claim they were not allowed access to the autopsy.

Some of the items removed during the most recent search of the Anthony's home included vacuum cleaners and bags, chemicals for cleaning the pool, pillows, a shop vac and pesticides.

Leonard Padilla, the bounty hunter who posted the initial bail for Casey, baby-sat her while she was on house arrest and launched several searches, gave his theory on the killing. He felt that she routinely drugged Caylee and put her in the trunk and the duct tape was to keep her from screaming or crying if she woke up. He thinks Casey panicked when her father got so close to the car and wanted to look in the trunk. Casey then took Caylee and dumped her in the area in which she was found.

According to one of the talking head defense attorneys on the show, with the find of the remains, the case went from being a strong circumstantial case to a case with hard evidence, making it that much more difficult to raise reasonable doubt.

Casey Anthony: Narcissist

Casey Anthony appears to be a textbook narcissist.

According to the Diagnostic And Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), at least five of the following criteria must be met to find a diagnosis of narcissism.

1) A grandiose sense of self-importance

2) Pre-occupied with fantasies of success, power, brilliance, beauty and the notion of "ideal" love

3) A sense of being special and unique

4) A requirement for excessive admiration

5) A sense of entitlement; rules don't apply

6) Exploitative of situations and relationships: What's in it for me?

7) No empathy

8) Envious of others or believes others are envious of them

9) Arrogant, haughty, above it all

Many people who meet the five examples may certainly be narcissists, but may never commit a crime. They may have horrible personal relationships and go through a lot of jobs, but they don't commit crimes.

There is no definitive cause for narcissism but some hypothetical causes are outlined as follows:

1) An oversensitive temperament at birth; must be held all the time or never wants cuddling as an infant; reacts badly to new stimuli and situations

2) Overindulgence and overvaluation by parents

3) Valued by parents to regulate their own self-esteem; "My child is wonderful, therefore, so am I"

4) The excessive admiration of parents is not balanced by realistic feedback; that bad grade on the spelling test is not the child's fault

5) Unpredictable or uneven care giving from parents

6) Emotional abuse by parents

7) Being praised for perceived exceptional looks or achievements by parents

8) Excessive praise for good behavior

9) Excessive criticism or punishment for poor behavior

Investigators believe body Caylee's

It is interesting to note at this point that the Defense team is saying that "a tentative identification had been made" and that they are continuing as if this is Caylee. As the Prosecution is saying that it is "premature, given that the remains have not been positively identified."

It has also been released that strands of hair found with the remains.

Several bags of evidence were taken last night from the home of George and Cindy Anthony. Casey was known to have stay with them, along with Caylee for extended periods of time.

Orange County Sheriff: "Absolutely Something of Interest Found in Anthony Home"

Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said "absolutely" something of interest was found in the search of the Anthony's home. Clues from the house linked the remains to Caylee, items the sheriff described as being very interesting to the forensic team.

During a hearing today, Casey's defense team acknowledged that anthropological measurements and hair color match Caylee. The DNA testing could take as long as seven to fourteen days, even with a priority.

Casey Anthony remains in protective custody at the Orange County Jail, restricted from contact with other inmates. She continues to be under psychological observation, which is not a suicide watch.

As of 12:45 this afternoon, George and Cindy Anthony still plan on appearing on Larry King Live at 9 EST this evening.

Nancy Grace, December 11

Crime scene tapes surrounds the Anthony home this evening after skeletal remains were found less than half a mile from the Anthony home.

The remains were found in the back of the Anthony's subdivision in a heavily wooded area, right across the street from Hidden Oaks Elementary School, which both Casey and Lee Anthony attended.

Nancy Grace's sources confirmed that the remains were Caylee. It has been revealed that there is something else that was found in the bag to indicate that. Whatever the something else is, it has prompted another search of the Anthony home. LE has not confirmed this. It is reported that the bag was a trash bag, not see through, wrapped in tape. Allegedly duct tape was present on the skull of the remains, but this has not been confirmed, either.

A forensic expert said that determining the sex of a skeleton that young may be difficult, although it can sometimes be done. Also, if there is any flesh left, toxicology can help determine cause of death.

The remains were taken to the FBI lab in Quantico and although the defense has requested that their own forensic team is present for the exam, it is highly unlikely the request will be granted and the autopsy is likely already underway.

Tim Miller from Texas Equuasearch, who had searched the general area previously, was not able to search this particular area due to the flooding from Hurricane Faye. He said it was the best decision he's ever made, as the evidence could have been disturbed. He has spoken with LE and saw the spot where the find was made, although he did not see the actual evidence. Mr. Miller said it was obvious that the evidence had not been buried and had not moved, and there was an indentation where it had lain.

Although the DA did not request the death penalty in their intial filing, at any time until the trial, the charges can be upgraded to include the death penalty.

Leonard Padilla said, "God put this whole thing together."

Casey Anthony, upon hearing the news of the find, was given a sedative.

Update On Bones Found

According to residents in the area where the bag containing a child's bones were found, the area is woody, and full of snakes. It is also an area that Casey allegedly hang out at with friends during high school. Residents and a news station in Orlando are also saying the bag was plastic and wrapped in duct tape. The skull was also allegedly wrapped with duct tape in the mouth area.

This has not been confirmed by LE.

Nothing is being released stating that there is any evidence indicating that the remains are definitely Caylee.

George and Cindy Anthony were notified of the find and are adopting a "wait and see" attitude. Casey was going to be notified in jail, where she is being held for charges ranging from child abuse to first degree murder.

Update on remains found

Tim Miller, founder of the Texas-based search group Equusearch, said he had been called by law enforcement officials and told they believed they had found Caylee Anthony.

"The words were, 'Tim, it looks like we got her,'" said Miller. "I'm surprised. It was one of them cases I thought would have never been found… I thought the best thing that would ever happen is that one day we could go to a funeral and say good-bye to this little girl… and it looks like that will happen."

Child's Remains Found Near Anthony Home

From news stations in Florida, a water meter reader has found the remains of a child in a garbage bag. The find was less than a mile from the Anthony's home. When the meter reader picked up the bag, a skull fell out.

The remains were determined to be those of a child, age and gender unknown.

Larry King Live Recap

After suffering through ten minutes of political talking heads yammering about the disgrace of the Illinois senator, Larry finally got to the Anthonys.

My editorial comments are in red.

It was an in-studio interview. Both George and Cindy were wearing large Caylee buttons and metal ribbons of some type, although I couldn't see exactly what color they were. They were holding hands throughout and it appeared Cindy had notes in front of her, although she didn't seem to refer to them at all.

Really, nothing exceptional or of a bombshell nature came out.

- George and Cindy did not find it strange to not hear from Casey that long. They thought she was off visiting friends. They would generally get a text every day or so, telling them she was okay. Of course, Casey could go off for days at a time to visit friends; she had no job.

-Casey appeared scared to them. They believe she did not go to the police because of threats made about Caylee and the entire family.

- Only recently was a description released of the correct Zenaida Gonzales. Casey had allegedly told LE repeatedly that the Zanni they should be looking for was 24 with no children, not late 30s with 5. The "right" Zanni had a NY driver license and ties to NY and Miami. Police never tried to find the "right" Zanni.

-They continue to receive tips, including one today of Caylee in a grocery store in Tennessee. Their investigator is checking the tip and looking at the tapes. Tips have come in from as far away as California and as close as Orlando of Caylee sightings. Some include people who have been as close as four feet from Caylee. So why didn't these people immediately call 911 and report it? Could it that they are loonie tunes trying to insert themselves into a big case?

-The picture of Caylee partying was taken as a promotion for the club. It was staged and she was paid for it. Was the picture of Casey taken wrapped in an American Flag, on July 4th, sitting on someone's couch holding a beer part of a club promotion that she was paid for as well?

-Caylee's biological father was from the Carolinas and died shortly before Caylee's second birthday and allegedly never had any involvement.

-Law Enforcement made up their minds right away and never pursued any other leads. So I guess tracking down Zenaida Gonzales was just for fun? Even though Casey couldn't even provide a phone number for the woman who was allegedly her daughter's caregiver?

-The Anthonys believe that shows like Nancy Grace's have already convicted Casey.
